Roger G. Bonds, MBA, FMSD, CMSR has advised physicians on their careers for over two decades and has reviewed over 3,000 physician employment contracts and also physician partnership agreements with private practices, hospitals, academia, medical, and pharmaceutical companies. These contracts have represented over 1,300 employers throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is President and CEO of PhysicianCareerAdvisor.com, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, where his primary work includes offering expert advice for physicians in private practice and academia, including job search and comparison, CV review, interview skills, non-compete agreements, compensation, and buy-in/buy-out options.
As a consultant, author, speaker, and professional trainer, Mr. Bonds appears extensively at international, national, and regional medical conferences. Over 150,000 medical and healthcare professionals have attended his presentations and training programs or retained him as an advisor or consultant. Many of his speaking engagements have led to invitations to address national medical conventions for multiple years. These include 28 years in a row for the American Urological Association; 27 years for the American College of Surgeons, 20 years for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine; 6 years for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; 5 years for the American Orthopaedic Association, 8 for the American Psychiatric Association and 6 for the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Collectively he has professionally delivered over 2,000 presentations at conferences, seminars, workshops, and board meetings.
He has published multiple videos on YouTube, more than 100 articles, various book chapters, and three full books, including his most recent book co-authored with six physicians, The Complete Business Guide for a Successful Medical Practice, and his book How to Contract, Compensate and Employ Physicians. Also, in its fourth printing is his best-selling book for physician employers, Physician Recruitment & Retention, Practical Techniques for Exceptional Results, originally published by the American Hospital Association and distributed by the American Medical Association.
His other books as co-author include Entering Private Practice for the American Psychiatric Association, and the book Marketing Your Clinical Practice, as well as Physician Bonding, Volume II. Mr. Bonds has appeared extensively in both print and television including the Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, Associated Press, CNN, CBS, and ABC. Recently, Mr. Bonds designed and wrote the articles and video content for the Career Center of www.MDsearch.com, one of the nation’s most extensive medical job boards with over 70,000 current physician opportunities.
He has served on the boards of various organizations and publications including, the National Medical Procedures Institute, Medicare Compliance Alert, Physician Relations Update, Outpatient Surgery, and Report on Physician Trends.
Mr. Bonds is the co-founder of the American Academy of Medical Management (AAMMweb.com), a membership and educational association for physician employers. Each year he teaches the 5-day Physician Recruitment Intensive Training course and the Practice Management Intensive Training course. Previously he worked as a Corporate Director for Mid-Michigan Health System, as Senior Vice President for Elmwood Medical Center (Healthcare International) and its 17-physician group practice in New Orleans, and as director of admissions for Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Mr. Bonds received his Executive MBA from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, University of Memphis, and maintains credentials as a Fellow in Medical Staff Development (FMSD) and as a Certified Medical Staff Recruiter (CMSR).
